That\u2019s got to be a good thing, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not so much.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These carousels are bad for both SEO and user experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The alternating headings that come with each slide make it difficult for search engines to determine the page\u2019s main idea. Carousels also often lead to slow page load times, which search engines like Google see as an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crazyegg.com\/blog\/speed-up-your-website\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">indicator of poor quality<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plus, these sliders are typically created with Flash, which is now universally accepted as bad for SEO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In terms of usability, carousels tend to push important content below the fold. As I mentioned above, this is the exact opposite of what you should be aiming to achieve with your page\u2019s layout.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, a carousel of images can give visitors conflicting ideas as to what the main point of the page is, and which action they should take.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bottom line here is that when it comes to visuals, it\u2019s possible to incorporate them in a way that will help you attract attention and encourage visitors to take action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But when done poorly, they can damage your SEO and harm your site\u2019s user experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So as you decide which photos and graphics to include and where to include them, keep in mind that they move visitors closer to your page\u2019s main goal \u2014 not distract them from taking action.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9. Pique Visitors\u2019 Interest<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You probably can\u2019t tell a user everything they need to know right on your homepage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might be able to convey the majority of the information they need if your product is simple. That\u2019s because you shouldn\u2019t think of your homepage as a landing page. It\u2019s really a transitional page that gets users closer to your content or product. If website vistors get stuck reading a whole bunch of introduction text, they may never take that essential next step that takes them into the real meat of your website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if someone enters your site from a page other than your homepage, it doesn\u2019t mean they won\u2019t end up there somehow.
